A few pictures within the old part of Seoul (the so-called Sadaemun).

Picture of Dongnimmun neighborhood, Seoul City, Korea, February 2007 by Parent (Seoul Middle Class Residential Neighborhood) [[Independence Gate]]. This was built by the Japanese just after the Japan-Qing war to supposedly 'free' Korea from Manchu Qing. The irony is that the Manchu conquerors were people of Korean origin ([[Silla]] and [[Balhae]] stock). The 'independence gate' marks the end of the tributary relationship between Korea and the Manchus, and the effective start of the Japanese occupation of Korea. (401.91 KB) Photo viewed 1038 times
