Nakseongdae is a middle-to-upper class residential district in Gwanak-gu located nearby the Seoul National University.

Nakseongdae (落星垈) means 'the site of the fallen star'. It refers to the birthplace of the great Goryeo general Gang Gam-chan born near here in Gwanak-gu. Gang Gam-chan is best known for his heroics against an invading Khitan force in the Battle of Kwiju during the Third Goryeo-Khitan War.
