The top shopping district in Tokyo(pics) and Japan(pics) and one of the greatest shopping districts in the world, Ginza is particularly fun to roam around on sundays when the streets are closed to vehicular traffic. The name Ginza originates from the silver-coin mint established there during the Edo period.

How to get to Ginza Neighborhood

Get off at Ginza station (Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, Tokyo Metro Ginza Line, Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line), Ginza-Itchome station (Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line) or Higashi-Ginza station (Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line, Toei Asakusa Line).

Tsukiji Neighborhood by Parent. The Tsukiji Fish Market gets real busy during the weekdays especially in the morning. It is located 5 minutes away from Tsukiji Station. There is another market (wholesale) close to Tsukijishijo Station. Another landmark worth.. Distance from Ginza: 0.7km SE, 24 pictures.

Shimbashi Neighborhood by Parent. Shimbashi is a working class nightlife neighborhood popular with the Tokyo salarymen. There's lots of restaurants and Izakaya's as well as a small red-light.. Distance from Ginza: 0.8km SW, 20 pictures.
